TUPACS LIFE


June 16, 1971Tupac Amaru Shakur was born in New York's University Hospital to Afeni Shakur (ex-member of the Black Panther Party) and Billy Garland. Tupac didn't know about his real father and had no contact to him for 19 years. His stepfather is Mutulu Shakur who is in prison (sentenced to 60 years).
Birth - 1986 Tupac grew up in NYC. He and his mum lived in The Bronx and Harlem (NYC) for 15 years.
September 1983 The first time Tupac Shakur appeared as an actor. As a member of The 127th Street Ensemble, a theater group in Harlem (NYC), Tupac Shakur played the character of Travis in "A Raisin In The Sun".
1985 Tupac and his mum moved to Baltimore, MD. At the School for Performing Artists in Baltimore Tupac met his lifelong friend Jada Pinkett the first time.
1985 Tupac started serious rapping in Baltimore under the alias MC New York.
June 1988 Before his graduation Tupac had to leave the school in Baltimore. Together with his mum he moved to Marin City, CA. Two months later in August 1988 he moved out of his mum's home.
1989 Together with Ray Luv, Tupac founded his first rap group called Strictly Dope.
1990 Tupac Shakur was hired by Digital Underground as roadie, dancer and background rapper. This seems to be an important fact for his later career as rapper. One year later, in January 1991, Tupac debuts with "Same Song" on Digital Underground's "This Is An EP Release".
November 12, 1991 Some months later the same year his first solo album "2Pacalypse Now" was released and went gold in short time.
January 17, 1992 Tupac played the character of Bishop in the movie "Juice". This is his debut on the big screen and the begin of his career as actor.
February 1993 Tupac's second album "Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z." hit the stores and went platinum very shortly.
July 1993 Tupac played the character of a postal worker called Lucky in "Poetic Justice", a motion picture with Janet Jackson.
March - October 1993 For having drugs in his car, a fight with a local rapper and for shooting at 2 off-duty Atlanta police officers, Tupac was arrested several times. Later most of the charges were dropped.
November 18, 1993 A 19 year old woman accused Tupac of sexual assault in New York City. The trial opened one year later in November 1994.
1994 Tupac, supposed to play a role in "Menace II Society", was dropped from the movie by director Allen Hughes. Because of that Tupac punched Allen Hughes and had to stay in prison for 15 days (starting on March 10).
March 23, 1994 The third movie with Tupac, "Above The Rim", was released. In this basketball movie Tupac plays the character of a drug dealer.
November 30, 1994 Tupac was shot 5 times and robbed of jewels and cash ($ 50,000) when he entered the lobby of Quad City Recording Studios at Times Square in New York City. Later Tupac said that Notorious B.I.G., Puff Daddy and other Bad Boy/Eastcoast rapper set up the shooting. He was in New York City cause his sexual assault trial opened.
November 31, 1994 Only one day after the shooting Tupac was found guilty of sexual abuse and was sentenced to 18 months to 4 1/2 years in New York's Riker's Island prison. He began serving the senctence on February 14, 1995.
1995 Tupac's cousin Khadafi and his friend Fatal visited Tupac in prison and planned the group Outlawz. Check out my Outlawz page for more information.
April 1, 1995 While Tupac was in prison his third album "Me Against The World" was released. It appeared at No. 1 (Billboard Charts) and went double platinum in only 7 months.
May 1995 Tupac Shakur married his girlfriend Keisha Morris at the Clinton Correctional Facility. The marriage was annulled later.
October 1995 Marion "Suge" Knight, owner of Death Row Records, payed $ 1.4 million bail to get Tupac out of jail in New York City. Tupac signs a record contract with Death Row Records in Los Angeles, CA.
1995 Tupac's fourth movie "Bullet", where he played alongside Mickey Rourke, was released.
February 1996 Faith Evans, at this time Notorious B.I.G.'s wife, denied the stories and rumours of Tupac's alleged affair with her.
February 13, 1996 After some months of work Tupac's fourth album "All Eyez On Me" was released as the first rap double album. The CD went quintuple platinum in only 2 months, in the meantime more than 9 million copies were sold.
May 1996 Tupac's single "2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted" featuring Snoop Doggy Dogg was released. There exist two different video clips, in one of them Notorious B.I.G. and Puff Daddy are punished for initiating the shooting in New York City's Quad Recording Studios in 1994.
June 4, 1996 On the single "How Do U Want It" the song "Hit Em Up", where Tupac and the Outlawz diss Notorious B.I.G., Puff Daddy, Bad Boy Entertainment, Mobb Deep and some other rappers, was released.

September 13, 1996 Tupac Amaru Shakur died at an age of 25 because of his injuries in Las Vegas, Ne. Tupac .... Rest In Peace.
December 1996 The album "The Don Killuminati - The 7 Day Theory" was released under the alias Makaveli. It's the first album release after Tupac's death months ago.
1997 The movie "Gridlock'd", where Tupac played a junkie alongside Tim Roth, was released in early 1997.
October 8, 1997 "Gang Related", the last motion picture with Tupac was released. The soundtrack carriers several songs by 2Pac, the Outlawz and other Death Row artists.
November 25, 1997 "R U Still Down (Remember Me)", the first album on Amaru Records, a label founded by Tupac's mother Afeni Shakur, was released. It's a double album, the first single was "I Wonder If Heaven Got A Ghetto".
July, 1998 Tupac's last interview was released on CD. The album is called "In His Own Words" (Mecca Records) and includes a few songs by 2Pac, Naughty By Nature and Notorious B.I.G.
